Tsunami Death Toll Nearing 150,000 and Climbing: You Can Help

Millions throughout Southern Asia and East Africa are without shelter, clean water, proper food or medical supplies. According to the Center for American Progress (http://www.americanprogress.org/site/pp.asp?c=biJRJ8OVF&b=171440), the U.S. is spending $7.4 million per hour on the Iraq war. To date, president Bush has offered $35 million for Tsunami relief aid or about five hours of war costs. From another perspective, the U.S. offer appears to be the largest of any country in the world. Add to this the offer of ships and soldiers for supplies distribution and the offer is substantial, however inadequate.

Although America is the most affluent country in the World, relief is not solely the responsibility of American and other governments. This is a time for individual people accross the Globe to collectively demonstrate generosity and humanity. The needs of victims transcend politics, country, ethnicity and religion. Giving is simply the right thing to do.

According to CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/12/28/tsunami.aidsites/), the following agencies are providing relief and are accepting donations.
